I went to Escambia Bay this morning and didn't have much luck. All I got was one small speck. I had a lot of hits, but just couldn't seem to land anything. I'm a beginner so maybe I wasn't doing something right, but I still had a good time out there.

I'd be interested in getting some tips too. I could deal with catching a few more fish in the bay.

I have been doing well in the sound for redfish and trout. This time of year, you'll probably find better fishing in Santa Rosa Sound. During the fall and winter, the areas in Escambia Bay and Blackwater Bay will pick up and you'll be able to find redfish and trout without a problem. My advice is to stick with the sound. Popping corks with Gulp Shrimp for the trout and jerkbaits and gold spoons for the redfish. The trout will be on the grass and broken sand-grass bottoms in 3-6 feet of water and look for the redfish on the north side of the sound around the docks in 1-3 feet of water.

The HLS Seminar Series is on Monday night at Flounders. The topic is redfish and I will be able to give you some awesome information there as well.

Hope this helps!!

Take Eric up on the offer for the seminar. The man has skills when it comes to catching reds.
