hey members i know we usally get toghter at the oval office but being the third thursday of the month how about we go over to the RFRA building and listen to what capt. paul redman and joe z. have to say. their will be food but bring your own drink (beer or what ever) their is a grill out side if anyone want's to grill up something. if you where watching blab tv sunday and saw joe z. talking with capt. dale perkins and capt. bob zales you know that their is a lot of new stuff coming our way this year. i have already posted something on the chit chat about noaa rules coming in 2009 and by 2011 another $25.00 fee to fish! so come on out we need your help to stop this all you have to do is listen.

Calling out all you dirty, smelly, blood covered, bonita smelling, crazy sharkers out there!!!

I've received lots of requests for another beach sharking get together. So lets get one on the books for August 16th. It's a full moon! We could do it at the same location and do the same lay out. We'll cook up some burgers, dogs, chicken (it is chicken bone beach after all) and of course everybody should bring their fav. adult beverages.

So if everybody wants to give it a go, we will need some yaks, and some lanterns. I can supply the charcoal, fluid, burgers, and dogs. Somebody could bring the buns and condiments, and Reelhappy is already geared up for bringing the chicken legs.

So let me hear it folks, who's down for doing a little fishing. Remember, if we don't catch anything......well we are still drinking!!!

For those of you who know me, I cook and cook and cook. It's therapy when you have a charter captain husband and a 7 y.o. who's going on 37 who knows everything - just ask him. I have catered several parties/dinners/receptions for friends and family over the years. I've constatnly been asked to open a restaurant. Ain't happnin! I can't/won't do 24/7 when I have a kid who still wants me around. However, after some deep consideration - not to mention some prodding and poking from friends and family - I am going to go ahead and open a catering business. Move over dk/Due South Custom Charters, here comes the rock's Due South Catering Company. That being said, I've got a lot of leg work to do getting licenses and such, but CC's wine shop on 98 in GB is allowing me to debut (sp) out of their shop on August 28 5-7p.m. I'll be matching the foods to the wines. Both are free. Y'all come by and give us a shot. Pick up a business card or two. I don't know if I'll have the menu down by then, but you can at least taste some of my specialties. It may also get you a chance to meet some other forum members in a not so formal basis. Give me a shout/PM or post to let me know about how much I need to cook.

From the other thread we came up with the weekend of Sept. 13th for a little get together at Ft. Mcree. Everyone is welcome. If you don't have a boat, someone in the group will shuttle you out there. I put in at Sherman Cove, but I can run to most anywhere to pick someone up. If Matt (Ocean Man) comes out there, we should be fed pretty well. Don't mean to put the pressure on ya Matt.:moon I just love that coconut battered fish.

Bring some fish to throw in on a fish fry maybe Saturday afternoon/evening.

But plan on either coming out on Friday and staying the whole weekend or just coming out to stay on Sat. night. Bring the family.

I supplied a lot of the firewood last time, but I have since run out of firewood. So we are going to have to get some elsewhere.

What else am I forgeting?

Beach Sharking - Role Call

Okay all you salty, stinking, chum covered, sharkers out there. It's time for role call. I need a head count of who all is coming this Saturday (6-14-08) so I know how much food to bring. Please also include if you are bringing bait or a yak.

Some things to keep in mind if you are gonna come out.

1. It's gonna be dark, bring a flashlight

2. No glass bottles on the beach....it's like a 60 dollar ticket per bottle

3. Your gonna need some sand spikes

Even if you don't want to fish, come on out and hang out for a bit. Have a beer and a burger and chill out.

Kim Cato of Milton has reopened the Liberty in Milton and the food is fantastic. She locves groups and welcomes all. Her new hours are from 8 to 8, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can reach the Liberty by boat, just tie up at the Milton Boardwalk and walk west to the first street, Willing Street that runs along the River.

PROGRESS: The Blackwater Grill will be opening in the near future on Elmira street and for some great grouper the Main street Cafe' is just two streets over across from the old post office on Caroline Street (Hwy 90). Some great stuff is happening in Milton.

AFFORDABLE: Milton is like another planet (yea, I know). Lunch (homestyle) is still under $5.00, people still say excuse me and waterfront property still sells for under 100K (with city sewer). They has a real Pyrate Crew (Not Krewe - and they don't do Madi Gras). A play costs $12.00 and an evening talking to Bones is free.

For a different experience from canoeing to skiing to flounder giging and crab scooping, shoose Milton for your getaway.

BrewHart Forum BBQ Party

Several of you have asked about having a forum party. I am down with that. If you want to do it, someone else needs to plan the date and make sure my father-in-law and myself dont have any prior comitments that day. For that shin dig to happen. I need a place that I can cook with no problems from park rangers, or cops or anything like that, such as someones house, or land or something of that nature. We all need to go in on the meat. I can purchase the meat at a discounted price wholesale through my work, or if anyone else can get the meat cheap that is fine as well, so we need someone to collect money. So if anyone has any ideas about when and where let me know. We need someone to take charge and organize this event. I am bowing out of organizing, I dont want to organize and cook. So if someone wants to take the reins on this and start a post and get to organizing BrewHart BBQ will be there.

As stated before I am down with having a party. I just dont want to organize plan and do all that stuff and no one show up and I am stuck with the bill. For me to even make it worth firing up the grill we need to have at least 50 people. Now any ideas of you bringing your own meat are honestly a lost cause. For cooking times You are looking at 14hours for a pork butt, 6 hours for ribs and 5 hours for chicken and that is if we dont have to much trouble controlling our heat. So we need to get the money from everyone, purchase the meat so I can have it the day before and begin cooking. I think if we invited familys to participate as well I think this could be a really great thing for all of us to do, to meet each other and put faces to screen names. You couldnt ask for a better time of the year to do something like this the weather is perfect. So lets get some ideas out on the table and start planning this up.

Hosted by the Emerald Coast Reef Association

We have a representative from U.S. Senator Mel Martinez's Office coming to listen to our concerns.

We are very concerned about the ACOE's proposal to change the steel thickness from the current 1/8" to 1/2". We believe that if this proposal is adopted that our fishery will suffer and so will our economy.

More Reefs = More Fish....... More Reefs & Fish = Better Economy

Recreational Fishermen have not been treated fairly in the allocation of TAC or Open Seasons. Private Recreational Fishermen, for the most part, have sat quietly year after year while we lost more & more of our rights even though we are the largest contributor to our economy, tax base and we represent millions of votes!

Our plan is to make it clear that when Recreational Fishing suffers from Unreasonable or Unfair Regulations, our local economy also suffers. If you own a business that you feel is or will be hurt by these regulations, please contact me at candy@ecreef.org

There is no doubt that the Charter Boat industry will support this meeting but if you want to see things change, the private recreational fishermen need to attend in force.

Private Recreational Fishermen are the sleeping giant in this game.

There are MILLIONS of us out there and we Vote! Our representatives can only represent us if they know what we want.

We want the right to build artificial reefs so that we will have a healthy and sustainable fishery.
We want Recreational Fishermen to be treated fairly in the allocation of TAC & open seasons.

If you are interested in attending this meeting, please visit www.ecreef.org and click on SAVE ARTIFICIAL REEF BUILDING. That will take you to the Emerald Coast Reef Association's forum on this meeting. I need to know approximately how many people to prepare the room to accommodate.

If you believe that Reefs are important to the health of our fishery and you want to be able to fish in the Gulf of Mexico, we need to wake up that sleeping giant and all of us need to stand united on these issues!

It is very important that this meeting be conducted in a very respectful tone. This man is in a position to open doors for us. Please remember, he is not the problem...he may be part of the solution. We want to present our group as rational, intelligent, respectful, focused, organized & united Stakeholders/Voters.

If you cannot make the meeting but would still like your thoughts to be recorded, please send a letter for me to include in a package that will be copied and delivered to ALL our Elected Officials. It is very important that you include how much you spend in your local economy to support your fishing/diving/boating hobby. That will help us make the economic connection very clear. Do not specifically address the letter to any one politician as it will be sent to all of them.

To be included in the package, your letter must include your legal name & legal address and your signature.

(This is so that they will know you are a real person/voter.)
