On the water by 6:00am, with about two dozen pinner caught by my fishing partner the night before ( so we had a head start on bait).  Caught two dozen more around the Destin bridge and passed on the cigs at the green bar ( bait last week was scattered at best).  So off down the east beach we went only to see a very large spout/spray right along the beach where we where heading.  It could only be one thing....whale!  So we move in for a closer look, sure enough it was a humpback about 35-40ft. long, just doing a little morning stroll down the emerald waters (about 10-12ft. deep) .  We followed long enough to witness two breath of air and take a few pic's with my disposible camera then left her alone.  Having seen many humpbacks in Maui, it was incredible  seeing one this close in such shallow water.

o.k. back to fishing....headed back the the same grounds where the week before we found a few nice ledges over some natural bottom.  Last weeks catch was, four snapper, two groupers, two flounders and one trigger.  Located the spot, dropped anchor and started "doing the work"...chumming.  After baiting and soaking/chunking the first 6-10 mins. it was time to drop a live pinner over the side.  First drop grouper, second grouper....hook pulled.  Then my fishing partner get in on the action.  In the next 30 mins. he boats three grouper.  Four in the box and it's still early.    After going 4 for 6 on groupers this spot went cold.  Tried just putting around looking for new spots and dropped bucktail jigs on a few spots that produced one nice red grouper, one red snapper and a king.  Saw a few king skyrocket in the area along with some large schools of hardtails on the surface.

Fish in the box:

2 red snapper

4 gags

1 red grouper

Will post pic's when get film developed.
