| I recently picked up a 4500 series Shimano Baitrunner reel. I'm looking to spool it with 20-25# line and mostly use it for surf fishing, maybe some pier fishing. What kind of rod would you all suggest for this? I'd like something that would be a sort of "in between rod" for the two previous locations. Also, what do yall think about the proposed line weights? Thanks in advance for all advice, Dave

The line weight should be fine. For the rod I'm not really sure what specific kind would be best, but it might be helpful to go into a tackle shop and just look at the different rods that feel right to you. In my opinion, a 9' rod would be good for length if you will probably use it off of the pier also. If you end up using it strictly for surf fishing, a longer rod would be better.

Sorry Semper I didn't see the post until today. What kind of rod did you end up picking up? 9' sounds about right.
