So my stepdad calls me tonight and says his aunt wants her ex-husbands boat out of the yard. They spent a lot of time out in it being avid divers and fisherman and she's tired of looking at it. It's a 25ft Robalo with twin yamaha 200's that have been rebuilt and have less than 20hrs on them. The trailer is in excellent condition, but the tires may need to be replaced because the boat has sat for probably 5 years maybe more. She said she'll take $1500 for it...somebody help me out with this...I've been blessed and can easily afford this, but am trying to figure out if it's a good idea. What kinda gas mileage would that boat get?...I dont have any idea how heavy it is either. I also only have a v-6 xterra 2wd to pull it with, so I'd probably have to change that as well. what do yall think?
Take care. Kenny

| Not sure about the mileage but if you don't want it I'll take it! That sounds like a great deal, I would jump on it if I was you! The money you are saving on the purchase will buy lots of gas!!

You will need to have the tank emptied of old gas and most likely have to have the carbs cleaned because they gum up, but you can't get the boat hull without motors for that. And Rabalo is a fairly good ride on the water. Enjoy.

lol...I know..man..this is a crazy deal....I've got so much going on right now lets see....my tenants move in on the 15th..my wife and kids are moving to MS with me Aug 1...I'm closing on my land either Mon or the 17th...I've got to get my daughter ready for her first year in school..daycare here in MS for my son..My wife's graduating and probably going to work...man I've got a lot of excuses....I just want to relax for a little bit...and now I'm getting hit with a great deal...and would probably end up buying another vehicle soon...which totally messes up my plans of driving my xterra forever..sorry..I'm just excited about this so I'm babbling now...I'll take pictures and get details about this boat this weekend, and if I can finish packing my house and get time I'd like to do whatever is possible to get it in the water....if it is possible over this weekend. I've got 4 days off so I'll have to see.
Take care. Kenny

Do it, remember not only to replace the tires but also the valve stems (tend to dry rot if not rolling) and empty the tank. Spend about $500 at the shop to make sure everything is running right and you should be set. Sounds like we have another member on board.

I wish...I've been so busy the only thing I've been able to do is read everyones diving posts on here....I looked at my gear in my closet today and realized I might not get it wet again this year, but that's ok. My time will come. Yeah I'm moving to MS though...not long term though. Just until my orders are up here. I'm not even buying a house here. Were just going to rent. I'm definitely going back to milton as soon as this is over. I hope I can start to meet with more of yall from here when I get back....I'll tell ya I can't say a single bad thing about anyone I've met on here!
Take care. Kenny

| Kenneth- I had a 1997 2440 robalo cuddy with the twin 200 mariners - awesome rig. I never did check the mileage on it though. But i can tell you it was one heavy mutha. I don't think you want to try and pull it with your nissan. I had it on a 2001 chevy pickup w 5.3 and a 3.73 posi rear end and it was working to haul that rig. Yours may be lighter if it is not a cuddy w hardtop etc. but still a heavy built boat. Hope you enjoy it. I sold mine cause i couldn't manage it on and off the trailer by myself- we have five little kids and it was just too big for me. But an awesome ride rode through one heavy t-storm in pcola bay after the blue angels one saturday 8-12 footers at the pass - just throw the throttle down and crash on through like something off deadliest catch. i was scared to death but my kids thought it was the best fun! -good luck and enjoy Matt
