Yes they are routing all traffic thru Blue Water Bay to get to and from Destin. I talked to the Pepsi delivery man at 7:00 am and he said it was closed all but one lane each in the north lanes then and at 8:00 am they closed it all down both ways.

tyler0421 (9/11/2008) They said it will more than likely be reopened tommorrow mid morning or early afternoon!I just read the same thing in the local newspaper. "People should plan their commute around not using 98 tonight or tomorrow morning," Villani added. "We're looking for conditions to remain this way and even get worse as the next 24 hours go on." It said they will reasses the situation late Friday morning. Mid Bay is free during the *detour*. This means we will be late getting to the Outcast sale! =)

I just went to lunch and overheard someone say that they may close mid-bay bridge if the winds pick up more but I'm guessing that's just a rumor! I sure hope so cause I work in fort walton and live in Destin!

tyler0421 (9/11/2008) I sure hope so cause I work in fort walton and live in Destin! My husband too. I bet he would be p*ssed mucho if he had to stay/sleep at the hospital :P ... I can actually hear him now - He'd be calling me to launch the boat and come pick him up across the Bay.. LOL

Okaloosa Island and Mid-Bay and Brooks bridges are open. Hwy 98 has about 2 feet of water over it. Last night a couple of motorcylces sped into the water without seeing it and they life-flighted some guys out last night. 98 is closed UFN. This is as of about 30 minutes ago when I left the Gulfarium/Hellen Back.
You can run, but you'll only die tired!
