| 4 - VS100s 4 - VS100g 4 - VS100b Really don't need that many but got em. 3 VS100b's NIB/Never fished. Golds and Silvers fished and extremely well maintained. I color code the reels with line class, Silver being 10#, Gold being 8# and Black being 6#. I have 4 extra of each, and would consider getting rid of a maximum of 4 in any one of the colors. With exception to the unused Blacks, all are on Custom Loomis or Matrix Rods, and I would consider selling them as well if the reel is sold. Great Reels and Great Rods. I love to fish the VS100 series, it is perfection in a light tackle reel in MHO. I am not interested in selling any of the reels for less than $500.00. PM me if you are seriously interested.

Good lord dude, that's like $15,000 worth of trout combos... & I thought I had a problem... You can sell those & get a nice boat & take your friend fishing & let him 'pay his way'... Good luck w/the sale...

To be completely honest, I have started fishing the 2" ZeeBaas and love it. At first I was not sure due to the little extra few onces of weight, but I am thrilled with them after having some time to get used to them. I will most likely always have a few baby VanStaals, but I really like my Baby ZeeBaas's a whole bunch. Both are extremely great reels and I don't think anyone that takes good care of their gear couldn't hand them down. Meaning they could go to the next generation.

I'm glad you like your Zeebass's Garbo. I am very unimpressed with the larger one my friend has.

First off, there was some sort of metal thing on the inside of the spool that would rub when the spool was up, he had to file it down. Also the drag seems kinda sticky. It is very light though. I have no experience with the smaller ones.

It is very light though. I have no experience with the smaller ones. I am still learning, but they are very cool. The spools are interchangeable with the body, more or less you can have a larger or smaller spool as an option and it fits the same body. Kinda the same principle as the Thompson Center Encore. I only fish the little spool, and have fell in love with it. The rotator is the same mechanism that drives helicoptor blades, but I am not smart enough to know what that means. I have 3 of them and only caught fish on the one that has 10# on it, so I haven't experienced the really light drag yet.

I've really been wanting a small vs, I've been very pleased with my vs200. I don't have $500 right now, but maybe you will still have some after a while.

(not terrible, but not exactly what i would've expected for that price and the hype). i can't say for sure, but from first impression, i would fish a VS 250 over a larger zeebaas. please keep us poseted on how you like the smaller reels. sorry to derail. back to top and good luck selling your van staals. heck of a price!

Matt09 (9/15/2008) Ill trade you 706s for a zeebaasThe 706z is the reason I don't own a larger Van Staal. I have several 706z's but I have never heard of a 706s before. If they are the same, thanks, but I don't need another 706z or s.

REEL STAMAS (9/15/2008)
Garbo (9/15/2008)

I really don't know if I like the 706 more than a VS250 or 300, I have never fished a 250 or 300, mainly because I like fishing a 706z, and don't see a need to fix what ain't broke. I like manual reels and the 706 is as good a large manual as I have ever fished, I love mine. Given the option to buy a new large manual spinning reel I would buy a 4 or 5 706z's instead of one VS250. I have got some 706z's that are going on 30 years old and still operate extremely well, they are great reels. Although I do have some concerns about the direction of the Penn Company..I am not sure the company has the leadership and vision that it did in the past.

I'm really surprised that a guy that loves silky smooth, high dollar reels as much as you apparently do, can 'not only' tolerate a coffee grinder, but really likes them... Wow... says a lot for those reels I guess...

REEL STAMAS (9/16/2008) I'm really surprised that a guy that loves silky smooth, high dollar reels as much as you apparently do, can 'not only' tolerate a coffee grinder, but really likes them... Wow... says a lot for those reels I guess...I get your calling a 706z a coffee grinder. I simply have never had one fail me, and I enjoy fishing them. At one time I wished there was other size reels in the 706 model/line, that were the same as the 706z just smaller down to about a 4300 or so. I do like well built reels and I like manual spinning reels, but the price does not influence my desire to buy or own any reel, but quality does. Do you know of another manual spinning reel that would be as reliable and dependable as the 706z? If so please let me know, I would like to try one. Typically I don't read into anything and take everything at face value, but I would like to ask, Did I or Have I done anything to offend you? If so I would like to make an effort to make it right. But, in the mean time, if someone wants a very nicely kept VanStaal 100, I have some that I could sell, if one fits their need.

You obviously know & appreciate quality equip. & I was really interested in how you ended up with such a collection & also why you liked those 'grinders' when you can obviously afford whatever you want... (Maybe I'm a little jeolous & didn't realize it, I'll ask my therapist-lol... & I have a rather extensive collection of reels myself, so I get the obsession...) i

What are the serial numbers on the black and sliver VS100, I am looking for pre-zebco I do have some origional VanStaals or as you put it "pre-zebco", but they are all gold. But, none of the 12 listed are "pre-zebco", including the 4 golds.
