| I've been using Flex-Coat high build for all my rods for the last year. I am getting closer to starting on a pile of redfish rods. What would be the advantages or disadvantages of switching to lite build, other than a small weight difference. Thanks for any help. I really like the high build and have never worked with Lite. Just want some insight on it before i go using it.

| Lite seems easier and more forgiving to me. Other than having to put 2-3 coats on a rod, I love it. I use it for everything. I started with Hi build but then went to lite. Just my .02

| I like the lite build for inshore rods and I rarely need more than 2 coats (I've used a single coat on a couple of ultra lights and haven't had a complaint yet).

Awesome thanks guys. Are you applying any heat to the Lite Build?

Brad, I have used both and still do at times. Lately I have been using Aftcote. If you give it a try I think you will be pleased.

www.fishing (11/12/2008) Lite build for A Threads and High for D double wrapped.or thick butt wraps.I never thought about it that way. I only wrap with A, and sometimes with madeira #40. Maybe thats why lite works good for me.

| Awesome information......I primarily use "A" amd madeira as well. Most of the Trout rods I built were in texas and they were baicasters using DF guides-underwraps and overs, so the High-Build wasn't an issue. The new ones are going to all be Spinning rods so I will try the Lite-Build. Thanks a million for all the input and advice!!!!!!!!!!
