The Sahara is a decent reel too.  I have one and love it!

Daiwa exceler. I'm usually a die hard shimano fan but lately I've fallen in love with daiwas newer models. These reels hold more line, are IMO smoother and a lot lighter for the same size. They are also cheaper; from 79.99-89.99 depending on size.

I carry a pretty good selection of them over here in Orange beach but thats a little bit of a drive for you I'm sure. I'm sure they have some at Outcast or GBBT.

I'm like you, if it doesn't say shimano on it, its a prebroken reel. But I've been fishing the excelers, coastals, and sols for a little over a year now and I'm blown away by their performance and durability. 5 years ago you couldn't hardly pay me to use a daiwa but now I'd say they are just as good. If you're ever over here I'd be glad to show all the models I have.
