I have moved this thread to inshore where I think it is better positioned and hope to avoid the negative issues associated with the other thread.

This thread has nothing to do with the Wes and Eric Challenge, Let's try and stay focused and check any bad attitudes at the door!

I think a charity tournament with the proceeds going back into our inshore fishery is great idea! However I think it would be better timed when the weather is more predictable and we can get better participation, the Spring.

We have an opportunity to work with a very influential group involved in enhancing our State Fishery, especially inshore species; and they are very interested in this idea.

Let's show them our best side, not our dark side!

I will be contacting certain Forum Members for a meeting after Christmas to further discuss this. Maybe Beef O Bradys in Pace!

Only members that can conduct themselves in a responsible and adult manner will be invited. I will also try and balance this meeting with a diverse group so we can have a diverse perspective.

PinkSnapper is on board with a Fishing Rods for kids, good idea, who's next?

Thanks Scott!

Charity auction, somewhere I read someone here is an auctioneer, and would donate time as an Auctioneer ie:

  1. Items donated by local fishing shops, tackle stores etc
  2. Maybe some Gift Cards or Free Dinners from local waterway/beach restaurants
  3. Maybe some of the local Captains could get some freebies from their sponsors
  4. Maybe a small fuel gift card from local marinas

anyone care to add to the list

I don't know if this would be considered a charity but they have done great things with the inshore reef program in alabama and it would be great to get something like that started over here.

I would be intrusted in any worthwhile idea.

There is a pretty significant project going on at Deadmans Island in Gulf Breeze that could have a very positive impact on our fishery. Considering that this area is currently of little impact for our day to day fishing trips, a restoration project out into the waterway, and possible considerations for some sea grass plantings as well in the area, is good project to consider for our future fishery as well as breakwaters to protect the island.

I'll do whatever I can do to help BP...Just let me know what you need. I could build and donate a custom rod.
