Sorry you didn't get the answer you were looking for.

I just did some research for you and the Blue Chart maps are not compatible with the Etex series of Garmin's GPS devices.  So there is no way to get the bottom info on your unit.

I guess that we didn't spell it out enough for you???

1) Go to www.garmin.com

2) Create an account on Garmin.com

3) Activate your account

4) Login to Garmin.com, find your model

5) Near the bottom of the page that is specific to your model, it should say which software packages are available for your unit - hopefully it will say "Bluechart" compatible

6) Pay for and download Bluechart Americas - or if you are in some other part of the world, then get that package for your geographical are.

7) Be sure to also download the manual for Bluecharts too and read the manual - it will explain how to manage everything.

8) Install the software

9) Connect your GPS to the Computer via a cable (USB or Serial - whichever came with your GPS).

10) Follow the instructions in the user-manual.

I guess that if you are still unclear, then you'll probably need to contact Technical Support at Garmin or maybe there is a Garmin Forum somewhere that will be more help.

Just checked the Garmin site myself:

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=8707

Near the bottom of the page, it says that this unit is BlueChart compatible...

But when you go to purchase the maps and enter the Etrex Venture HC, the Blue Charts is not an option.  Hmmmm.  Might just want to contact garmin.
