Rich and I went today- foggy but warm temps were nice. We went to the Russian Freighter, not much to shoot but we did see a big shark hanging around some trigger carcasses someone filleted and tossed overboard. It was around 62-64degress and 30-40' vis. We headed out a bit further hoping for better vis and some fish, the vis was about the same but we found a couple groupers, 5 flounder and a trigger. Again we had a big shark show up, these sharks weren't aggressive toward us, but they were swimming sort of fast and making turns. (usually I see them just lazily swimming around slowly). We decided to call that dive due to having fish on us and the size of the shark. There were many large red snapper swarming us when we speared a fish hoping to get a piece. We saw large (at least 10ft long) stingrays on each dive

Tasty eats there.  Congrats on the fine catch.  I don't know how you guys do it with large sharks watching you.

I'm not sure, dusky/sandbar/bull, about 8ft long or more and pretty thick in the midsection. too big to push away if it came down to that- I did not see either open their mouth but I imagine they could bite off a big chunk of flesh. Neither shark came closer than 15' to us, but again we didn't hang around for long after seeing the one after spearing fish

Thanks for the post.  Nice to see someone's getting out there and in the water, 'cause it sure aint me.  Lately, every time I have the day off and could go out, the weather sucks, and when I'm driving in to work, the seas are smoothe as glass.  I'm waiting to get the word Morrison is back open so I can see if my gear still works.

No, we didn't go, but should have.  The forecasts were calling for thick fog in the morning and the seas building all day, so I did not want to risk it, especially with a couple of "never done a boat dive" people on board. I tend to be a very fair weather diver, but I am even more picky when I have novices going with us.
