| I am thinking about purchasing one of the anchoring devices that I have seen in the fishing mags....specifically the Stick-It pin. I noticed that there are a few other brands/styles available, each one similar in design and intent, but with slight variations such as style or composition. I use my Hobie to fish in and around Perdido Bay and its various inlets/bayous, Big Lagoon and Johnson Beach in the summertime. I also occasionally take it to East Bay or Shoreline. I spend 80% of my time in skinny water, so I would like to find something that is easy to use, easy to store and that will hold my 'yak even in windy conditions. I would appreciate any suggestions and/or reviews that my fellow 'yak fishermen/women might be able to offer. Also, if any of the recommendations are available locally, I would prefer to support the local businesses. Thanks to all!

I sell the Stick it anchor pins and have the 7ft in stock. I have sold many to Kayakers and to shallow water bay boaters and everybody seems to like it. Easy to use, light wieght and easy to store on the yak. 582-9716

| I was going to suggest sosmarine myself but he got a post in while I was making sure I had the correct dealer before posting!! If you prefer to build your own anchor system there are also ideas floating around that can work well in skinny water up to probably 4' or so. I know that captken has posted an idea or 2 that would merit consideration. But you decide if buying or building from scratch is your ballywick or not. Good luck to ya either way.

I use an adjustable paint - roller handle from Lowe's . it's lightweight, costs about $12.00 and it even floats . it also has a good hand-grip with hole to tie on your anchor line .

| Baitcaster, Sounds interesting...I assume you're talking about one of those telescopic handles where you can adjust the length? How long have you used it...does it hold a 'yak in wind/chop and what about lifespan? Will it hold up in the saltwater environment? Thanks to everybody for the replies....keep 'em coming!

Check out the anchor trolley system at kayakfishingstuff.com. Its what i use and it works great. You can anchor off of the bow or stern. A lot of guys up here use a stakeout pole if you are in skinny water. Just my 2 cents

I've used it for a few times the last 5 months now, I simply rinse it off in the extended position and let it dry. It's alumnium (sp?) and nylon so it's suitable for marine enviroments . It holds me and my w.s. ride (about 370 lbs) in brisk winds just fine .
