I have fished for stripers up the Escambia River but have always had better luck up on Yellow river near the Weaver and Broad enterences. I haven't fished down there in the last six months but I dont think it has been cold enough for the fish to move out near the flat. Call Capt. George Finch "Fish the Bite" charters in Milton he will know whats going on.

| Quite some time ago they released a butload of little hybrid striped bass there near Jim's Fish Camp. Just ask the folks that work there they can give you the details. I have caught several Hybrid Stripers in the Blackwater but good luck my home town river has never been a sure thing for me (except my super secret Bream hole...)

The OLE catch.. Wow looks like a great catch.. I've never really fished for them. Very little upper end of Lay Lake. Heck don't know if we have them that big in P'cola. I'd love to catch one that size..Ilive close to Yellow and Blackwater River.

Some may disagree with me, but they taste just like bluefish to me. Unless you like eating bluefish I'd just catch the strippers and throw them back. They are fun to catch though.

We used to catch them in Lake Marion S.C. back in the 80's. Never cared for eating them but they are fun to catch.

Fresh water stripers always taste worse than salt for some reason...when based in NJ, we'd catch them right in the surf and man were they good...they DO chase menhaden and that is one of their primary forages which could be why some say they taste like blue fish...the big blues on the east coast are VERY oily and that is from the menhaden as well...you can almost make it a sure bet that if theirs a bluefish blitz going on, stripers are directly under the blues getting the pieces parts that drift down to the bottom...
