| I picked up a 24 volt trolling motor (Motorguide) for my Keywest 1720 that has a factory 3 prong plug connector for a trolling motor. My question is, do I have to do anything special to plug the TM in or will the factory wiring accept the 24 volt TM? Also, what is the dual battery wiring sequence? Thanks in advance.

| Using 12V batteries... (2 or more) Hooked up in parallel = 12V (positive to positive and negative to negative) Hooked up in series = 24V 3 hooked up in series = 36V

| Is the trolling motor bow mount or stern mount? Your first sentence is not completely clear, does the boat already have a female fixture to accept the three prong on the motor, or did you mean that the motor has a three prong male fixture and that there is no fixture wired into the boat? If you have the three prong on the motor and if you have the female fixture on the boat, at the point you are going to mount the motor (bow or stern) then all you need to determine is that the batteries are in place, and plug it in. If the motor only has wires, and the boat has a three prong female fixture where you wish to mount the motor, then you must attach the three prong male fixture to the motor wiring and ensure that the batteries are in place and plug it in. If you do not have the three prong female and wiring already installed on the boat, you are faced with wiring the boat from the battery storage area to the point that you wish to plug in the motor (bow or stern). If it is a stern mount, and the existing wiring on the motor will reach the battery area of the boat, just put clips on the motor wires and attach to the batteries when using. I know that this may seem too complicated, but I am not clear as to what you have on the motor and on the boat at this time.

under the dash where the factory red and black wire are already there,, the red=positive goes on 1 battery, the black=negative goes on the other battery, then there is a jump wire that goes between the 2 batteries 1 on positive and 1 on nevative,, on the tm end, in the boat looking at the plug, there are 3 pins, raise the flap and use a volt meter to determine which pin is positive and which is negative, at the same time you are assuring there is 24v at the plug,,, when you connect the female end that came with the boat you are olny using 2 of the wires, cut the orange wire off and tape it up, use only the red and black. plug it in and you should be good to go,,, hope this helps....
