| first of all, we decided to go hunting yesterday whether it was windy or not. me and my friend decided to go hunitng on the river on some private land that borders management land. they have a boat house and four wheeler and all that good stuff, only about 300 acres. well we get to our spot and i climb up about 2 qand my friend walks down a little ways and puts his climber up. he calls me and ssays hey you can shoot a doe to and it want be bad dragging it, we can get the four wheeler close. well shortly after that my brother calls me and says he is going behind the house to hunt a deer that has been making a scrape around our pond. i have had my camera out for two weeks and have yet to get a picture of him. we have never shot a deer on our property in 26 years. well into the evening hunt we go then. what a beautiful afternoon and finally at 5:05 BOOOMMMM. a monster doe on the ground. he calls me says he has it and he is going to get down in a few since we had no flashlight or gps. well ten minutes later BOOOMMMM again. he calls me and says hewas climbing down and a deer was smelling the doe and seen horns and shot that one. he is pumped. well we get ready to drag and my brother calls me huffing and puffing, i got him i got him but i have a problem. he made a long shot, 250 yards+ and the deer fell. when he went to go give it its barrel touch the deer got up and ran dead into the pond. needless to say if you want to catch a buck deer on a worm, a 7.5 inch culprit june bug worm will do the trick. he reeled it in and brought it home. well we finally drag our two deer out which seemed like miles, got them to the boat and came back to swap stories. as always there is more but it's already to long and its time to see the picture. needless to say they are not the big deer everyone else are shooting but we are just as happy. good luck to everyone else on the rut. its time!!
 Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

forgot to say that the five point was not messed up horn wise. it should have been bigger, it was broke off on one side above his g2 and the other side above his brow tine. it would have been a fine basket rack.

countryjwh (1/9/2009) forgot to say that the five point was not messed up horn wise. it should have been bigger, it was broke off on one side above his g2 and the other side above his brow tine. it would have been a fine basket rack.Look's like he was a piebold also. Any other white on him other than his face? Sound's like a great afternoon followed by alot of work! Congrat's!
