| My buddy is wanting to do a crawfish boil within about a week.....anyone have a connection to a local person or seafood store that is selling them? Gulf coast seafood isnt getting any until march, and a couple stores in pace have some...but are close to $4 a pound. Thanks

| It is not crawfish season yet, so they will be expensive, try L & R Seafood on the causeway to Mobile. They have the best prices. I check prices there and then here and drive there to save about $100.00. There is also a place on highway 98 right pass Dog Track, they only sell creawfish, they may not even be open now. Then there is L&N on Highway 29 just south on the Wall Mart on the east side of 29. They have good prices also. However, it is not the season for the mud bugs. Should you do find some, the shells will be very hard. Good Luck !!

| March - spring time, right now the crawfish are now in their holes. A rainy winter season makes for a good spring. The when the heat comes, they crawl out of their holes, shead there shell, the new one is soft and then gets hard. Then they mate, the males some times will cross road wayd by the hundreds. One time on I-10 New Orleans East they were so many. We would go there with big plastic garbage cans, stand in place, and fill the cans as they walked to us. There were so many dead on the highway traffic was reduced in speed because cars were sliding on the crawfish like ice in winter somewhere up North. So wait until the first warm days of spring and then it will med bug times. See Ya!! BT

| you should be able to find/get IQF frozen imported or domestic (cooked and seasoned) the best imported ones are from Spain and should be around $2.25 to $2.50 lb you can steam them or but them under the broiler to reheat for a few minutes, but don't boil them again............. not as good as fresh , but they are pretty good

BananaTom (1/11/2009) My brother picked up a sack yesterday at L & T's, $3.89 per pound.Come on Spring Time !! Correction....$3.43 per Lb or around $150.00 a sack of 43lbs...they looked like mid season bugs and boiled up as good as ever...yummy in my tummy..as I consumed more crawfish last night in one sitting than ever in my life... L & T's had four bags remaining after I left there yesterday...494 7070 Jimmy

certainly they are cheaper over in louisiana. i remember this thread coming up a few months ago. i think hal (xanadu) has a connection over there. check with him. and if you find someone that has them, PM me. i have a business associate coming over from new orleans on thursday to hunt with me for a few days. maybe he would pick them up for you?
