I am currently trying to shop insurance for a potential boat purchase, and was wondering if anyone has any input to help me out. I have already contacted the majors "Progressive, State Farm, etc... " but wanted to know who everyone else uses. Also any experiences good or bad with particular insurance companies.  Thanks for reading.

I used to have USAA but I was informed that they sold all of their boat policies to Progressive. So although I send my bill to USAA, I will see a Progressive adjuster if I ever file a claim. I have first hand knowledge that Nationwide is now writing boat insurance again. They are keeping their policies to trailered boats 26 foot and under. You can call Florida Insurance Agency to get a quote. Tell them that Team Strictly Bizness sent you. (no they are not one of our sponsors)

I have USAA/Progressive on my own boat and have been happy with them from an insured standpoint and a customer had a claim this summer that I did the work on. The adjuster was prompt to come out an inspect the damage and give me the okay for repairs. His amount was actually a little higher than my estimate and sent me a check for that amount minus the deductible. When the parts came in, one was higher than his estimate and he sent me differance.

We had Nationwide for years before moving here. Then they switched us to US Insurance Services out of J-ville. They are both good, my opinion, but we've never had a claim or whatever so I don't know about that part. We called around and got quotes last year to compare $ and US Insurance was the cheaper for us.

I have insurance by Boat US. It's very affordable and have had good customer service so far...I haven't had to file a claim yet though.

I have to second the BoatUS advice. I just switched from Nationwide last week; my premium was $1068 per year and is now $470 with BoatUS for like coverage. I also have their towing insurance which is a great deal in my opinion.
Good luck with it,
