I bought a new boat but want to repower with a larger motor. I am trying to sell the existing motor before I buy the new one. The motor has been used 1 time to do the check out ride on the boat. It has about 1/2 an hour of run time on it- the break in still needs to be completed. The price is $5000.00. I flushed the motor after the check out ride with Salt Away treatment. It's a solid unit and will make a good power plant for someone. I don't think you can get the motor from a dealership with the extended warranty any more- the time limit has expired. It comes with a stainless prop too. Purchased a few weeks ago from Emerald Coast Marine.

| Josh- Thanks for the inquiry. I ended up going with the Key West 1520 CC. It's a great boat and I liked the fit and finish/features better than Carolina Skiff (also a V hull instead of a skiff- should be better on ride and speed). I tried to look at Scout, but the dealer didn't have the 16 footer in stock. I got a trailer from Eddie English in Milton and it fits in the garage just right. The 50 hp Yammie is a solid unit, but I think I want to go bigger in case I add weight to the rig by installing a trolling motor and extra battery. Now I just need to decide if I want 2 stroke or 4. I like the light weight and torque of the deuce, but the quietness and fuel economy of the quad sounds good too. I don't think Key West recommends the 75 hp 4 stroke for that hull, so I will probably get the 2 stroke 70, but I am open to opinions. Here is a link to the boat... http://keywestboats.com/boats/show/id/2 They have made some changes since the web photos were taken- it's a better looking boat now, not that it was bad back then.

good deal mike, sounds like the perfect boat for the type of fishing you do.
with a motor less than 100hp and with that size boat I'd definately go with a 2 stroke to keep the weight down. plus I don't believe you run any long distances, pretty much just from galvez to the pass and back, I doubt you would see any real significant fuel savings between a 2 and 4. I'm a big 4stroke fan and a big suzuki fan (as is evident by what I have hanging on the back of my boat). but I don't think in your application you could go wrong with the 70hp yammy 2stroke. good luck with the sale and congrats on the new boat

Just to update everyone I have completed the second hour of the break in period on this motor. I am going to order the 70 horse 2 stroke Yamaha as soon as this motor sells. I am willing to work with the prospective buyer, as I really want to repower my boat and have it finished. I would consider a "referral" commission for someone that finds me a buyer.

Mike, I'm sure you have thought of this, but is it not possible to trade up with the dealer of the boat since you just bought it?
If you have only used the rig one or two times, maybe they would consider allowing you to swap to another engine since they would be making a larger sale? Just a thought.
Key West are great boats, I have enjoyed my 1720 alot and it has given me no problems at all. Another suggestion on the motor....the 75 Etec would be sweet on the KW(got a 90 on mine) but would cost more than that 2 stroke yam. I didn't know you could still buy 2 stroke carbed engines due to the emissions laws?

I did not consider the E Tec 75, likely due to not thinking of it since Kenny doesn't sell them to my knowledge, and I admit I am biased towards Yamaha. The 2 strokes will soon be phased out, but you can get one for now, and I prefer the light weight, torque, etc. I don't think Kenny can handle a trade in, or he would have offered, and I don't want to take a beating, just unload the motor for a fair price. Boat runs fine with a 50, I just prefer a 70. I love the Key West hull, and appreciate the input- haven't seen you on a forum maybe since it was fish the bridge dot com?

I added a digital under cowling hour meter to the motor to make it easier to keep up with the maintenance intervals. I continue to flush it after each use with Salt Away treatment using an immersion flush system. Motivated seller!

| A lot of people from Craig's List are asking for pics so I took 2 without rolling the boat out of the garage, so the quality is not professional. However, that lets everyone know the motor is garage kept. I checked the hour meter and it has 8 hours on it now.
This image shows the remote trim switch on the motor- very handy.
This image shows the bimini top laying on the cowling- I am sorry for the quality but I did not want to horse the boat out of the garage by myself just to get pics of a standard 2009 50 HP 2 stroke Yamaha. Here is a link to their web site... http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/products/subcathome/10/home.aspx You can tell the motor has been brushed with soap and water after every use- it still shines! I'd like to see it sell and anyone that has questions about having it installed or buying controls can call Kenny at Emerald Coast Marine- 850-456-8196. He was the dealer on the boat and motor back at the end of March and I will be buying the new power plant for my boat from him, so he will help you out! Thanks everyone for looking.

Blancheetah's attempt at humor aside, the motor has about 13 hours on it now. Still being flushed in a drum with water and Salt Away after each use. Still using Yamaha oil exclusively. It purrs like a kitten. Kenny (owner of Emerald Coast Marine) told me he had a call on it and the guy said he wants the motor and will be in town next week. I still say the motor goes to the first person who has the cash. Call me or e-mail- motivated seller.

| Here are some more photos of the motor. Note the hour meter reads 16 hours now. Also, you can see some spray on the engine. This was applied by the dealership to ward off corrosion.

5 year transferrable warranty still applies, and I continue to immersion flush with Salt Away and fresh water after every use, not to mention washing everything down. Make me an offer...

| Bring your cash offer if you want to buy the best motor you can buy- maybe better than brand new given the stainless prop, hour meter, flushed with Salt Away, and 5 year transferrable warranty. Here is a link to the Salt Away web site so everyone knows what I am talking about. http://www.saltawayproducts.com/EngineFlushPage.htm I want to sell this motor so I can put a 70 on my boat. No other reason. Bring your cash offer for my mint, perfect 50. I'll help you get the motor on your boat, so I can get the motor I want on my boat.

PRICE REDUCTION- $4500.00. Motor only- no controls. Contacts with local dealer established for help with installation if you want the motor. No better maintained unit on the market in my opinion. 5 YEAR warranty transfers to the buyer. Warranty honored at any Yamaha dealer. Stainless prop. Hour meter. Always flushed with fresh water and Salt Away treatment. Thanks for reading.

I do not know how to edit the title of a post. I am not aware that it is even possible without being a moderator, otherwise I would have already fixed it. When I made the initial post the motor WAS brand new. The post is several months old.

| I can't believe that this motor hasn't sold. When I had my 15' Whaler a couple of years ago, this is just what I was looking for. I checked on buying a new one just like this one but the new price scared me off. I would've been all over this one. I guess either everybody is wanting a 4 stroke or everybody is broke. Good luck selling it.
