what type of lubricant should i use on my staal, if any?

water....seriously, i've got 3 and i have never done anything to them. some people don't think much of them but i can't find anything wrong with them.

They are sealed water tight so you don't have to lubricate them. You have to send it back to them for the annual service. They are the only ones that are supposed to work on them.
