Have heard that there was one on canal road but have never checked it out. Does anyone know if there is one or what the closest one is to go through the intercoastal to Pcola pass?

Where ya coming from?  There's a few on the island.  One on the canal directly under IC bridge in gulf shores, its pretty nice as long as the current isn't bad.  Couple in orange beach, one in cotton bayou, very nice its off of perdido beach blvd, and one off of boggy point on marina road, boggy point can be real fun if the current bad.  I'd go to cotton bayou.

Cool, there's two ways from gulf shores.  depending on where you're staying you can take highway 59 to the T.  Hang a left on east beach blvd take it to orange beach, think it then turns into perdido beach blvd.  Be better to stay in the left lane, its several miles but you'll end up coming to hwy 161 intersection, there will be a gas station and a drug store (walgreens i think) and gas staion, just past the gas station the entrance to the ramp will be.  The other way is to come down canal rd until you get the intersection of 161, hang a right get in the left lane go until you get to perdido beach blvd, hang a left and same as above, just past the gas station will be your entrance.

Not trying to be nit-picky, when you pass 161 intersection it's a Rite-Aide then Chevron and then the Grand Caribbean (sp) resort. Turn at the boat ramp sign, the boat ramp is on the old 161 road. They straighten up the road years ago and now you don't have to go around the end of Cotton Bayou.

If you got google earth go to 30 16 13.70n, 87 34 57.56w that will get you to the boat ramp road and hwy 182 intersection.

I was gonna recommend Grand Lagoon Park, http://www.floridastateparks.org/biglagoon/ but I see it's $4 to get in and 4$ more to launch a boat, is that correct?

The above info is good for going into the gulf from Perdido Pass but if your wanting to go out via P'cola Pass you might want to go further east to Navy Point.

Boaters in the Orange Beach area are trying to get the state to put in a new boat ramp with plenty of parking.  It would be on our (East) side of Perdido pass and get you into the Gulf at least 30 minutes sooner than driving over the bridge to the existing ramps.
