I bought two of his traps last year. For the Hargreaves tournament, I put one on one side of the dock, one on the other, wally world in the middle. Each of his traps had 40+ pinfish in them (I bought commercial) wally world had 2. That was in the grass in the sound. I had them in about a 30' span.

| Again... These are GREAT traps. They absolutley slay the pinfish. No need to cary around one of those huge plastic wire coated beasts. These little suckers do the job, and do it well.

Thanks Jody for the post. You are right, these traps outperform traps that are much, much larger and there is not coating to hide the cheap wire used to build them . This wire is "Aquamesh" wire and is manufactured specifically for this type of application and there are no toxins used to make this wire which is better for the environment. Bottom line....these traps kick

| Got one of Richie's traps from him a month or so ago. Would have never believed how much better they work than the old standard ones I've been using for 30 years. My 9 year old son is so protective of it, he won't even leave it out. Calls it his magic bait getter. Thanks Richie...... We still need to wet a line together. Dan Green

| Dan, I'm glad that we could finally hook up and get you a trap. Thats awesome that your son got control of the trap! Let me know when you can get offshore and I will show you how well my new design "Hotel California" works. I picked up the trap and it started to swim away...... Call me.

| How big are the fish openings of the commercial or offshore models? Could this thing catch say 8-10 inch menhaden for smoker king baits?

| Reeltime, The traps are primarily designed for Pinfish, but I have caught various other live bait including a few menhaden. Based on the size Menhaden you are wanting, I dont think that my trap would be best for that. I have caught some Jurassic Park size Pinfish in all three models but no Menhaden of that size. Thanks for the inquiry.

| Mullett Hunter, you have a PM. Here are a few pics of the "Tournament" Model that I referred to as the "Hotel". Corner view, 4 inlets so this thing fills up FAST!
Bait container down through the middle, adds structural integrity and easy to load with dead bait.
Top view of the trap with the bait release door and dead bait loading door below.

| I've got a quick question. How does everyone secure your bait to the bottom of the the Inshore model? Just bought it at Outcast and both times I've used it I've tried tying it on the bottom of the trap with fishing line. Both times it ends up floating in the trap by the next moring. Thanks for any info. Chris

I use a piece of copper wire to loop around the bait and then secure it to the bottom of the trap. I use 12 or 14 gauge wire and I strip the insulation away. The copper wire will bent easy when you set the bait and when you retrive it to 're-bait' the trap.

Try using 2lbs of chunked up menhaden and you should be able to use the bait without a bait pin.

| Richie, The trap has performed like I never could have imagined. Sorry now that it took so long for me to get with you. We haven't fished much lately, but my 9 year old son enjoys re-bating it just to see how many we can catch. Amazing how much better it holds the fish without the normal escapement. The wire and build quality is the best I've seen. Thanks again, Dan G.
