Took my girlfriend, her daughter, & her 6yo g/son & 3yo g/daughter out for the kids 1st ever fishing trip...Got some shrimp from Cardenas, left ~noon & anchored near the rocks in the pass(not in the channel ...Set the 6yo up w/his Spiderman combo and waited(& prayed)...The fishing gods smiled & you see him w/his 1st ever fish(small gag)...he also caught a small black drum-both ALL BY HIMSELF...It was so cool to hear him say-"I think I have a fish" & watch him reel it in...I was barely able to compete w/a big sheepie & a decent black drum...My girlfriend actually outfished us both w/ an overslot red...also cast & hooked a few bluefish that he enjoyed reeling in...home before 3p, just in time for the 3yo's 'no nap meltdown'...I hope all my trips are 1/2 this much fun...

Great Job! I remember my first fish I was 5 years old and my aunt and uncle took my sister and I out somewhere near Jacksonville. I was never the same it made me feel like a man. You just gave that boy a gift he will never forget.

A line in the water and Beer in a can.

You catch some, you lose some but the beer will never say no or try to run away.
