We've been kicking this horse for a long while. I wish Chris would chime in here and tell why we can not have one. So at least we could quit beating this poor poor dead horse. But untill then I guess I will keep kicking as well.

| Well let me kick the dead mule once too. BTW: I recall somebody asking about Micro Guides. here are some ramblinsf from me having just finished up my first rod. I was using mix of Fuji new concept and Batson's Guides. A 7ft light/UL 16 8 6 3 3 3 3.The 3's were all batson, looks like a stronger foot than the same size Fuji.Time will tell. Spacing was as per regular 'new concept'. The top is a 4 ring on 4 tube batson. Put a little epoxy between the two 'legs' and the tube to stiffen it up some, the added weight was not noticeable but those tops are a problem. Wish they came pre split for thicker rods and with a better support for the ring. Made for myself to use on white bass in spring and stocked trout this winter. May be fun on Specks on my sea trips. 6# test floro on 8# spectra. In a 750 Sahara. Knot passes the guides well. Blank is one of those 'sand it yourself' deals from Mudhole, turned out way better than i thought it would be. Casts much better with very light lures than with regular sized eyes. 1/32 works well enough to fish with. I must of fooled around with various combos for a week until i settled on this. First try on Threadmaster Lite epoxy. Happy with that too. An absolute PITA to get those guides to stay in place until you get a few winds of thread on them. Fast to tie on though, about 15 winds and a guide is done. Have to tie off those guides too or they pull out easily.

Were you using a Forhan to lock them in place? I would love to see pics of the finished product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm currently building 2 rods. - A calstar 670 beach shark rod. I'm putting fuji SIC's(HD's) in a 25,20,16,12,12,12 and finishing with an oversized Aftco tip. Cork tape rear grip, aluminum gimbal,Pacbay Alum. reel seat and 8" EVA foregrip
- A 4' 6" pistol grip All Star for a 3 year old girl. It will have pink and silver wraps and matching silver double footed pacBay guides. I'm trying to find a small mermaid sticker to put on it but no luck yet.
Anybody starting anyhting new

BradK, yes on the 'Forhan'.I guess thats what you call them here in the US but I saw that about 20 years ago by a guy called Barry Britz on a New Zealnd made SU8 blank he made up for me. Unless i am missing something from his instruction piece on the Rodbuilders Phorum. Barry just called it tieing them off. I also do two or three turns after the forhan after any size guide. Just a habit i guess. Wish i was as neat with my bindings as he was!
Will try take pic and post them, not done that on this board before so who knows what will happen with that!

| I am still finishing up a 7' Gator with Fuji Turbo's. Aftco reel seat. Eva fronts and rear grip. Been on it for a while, need to finish soon got some redfish rods to start on, which will garnish my first ever Tiger Wraps....I'm a lil' excited about em.

| I just got finished glueing my gimbal, seat and support sleeve for the forward brace on the 9/0 reel that calstar is going to be sporting. I almost forgot that sleeve, which although not completely necessary, definitely helps during a long fight with a big wide reel like that 9/0 Penn. Brad, I'm not real keen on some of the different wrapping patterns. Can you elaborate on the tiger wraps?

| Tiger Wraps are a technique using various color threads wrapped in opposite directions with a sacrifiicial threas removed to produce a Holographic.moving sort of effect. Very nice looking, unique and can be done in an unlimited array of colors and effects.

| Bradk, that is awesome. Wish my wrapping skils were that good. Have you tried the 'marbling' on wraps using tints into the flex coat /threadmasater and if so was it good? I tested it a few times on scrap and the effect was not quite as i had in mind. also, were you able to see the micro guide rod pics i emailed you? i do not have access to my email from work.

| AI can't access my email from work either......Will check this weekend. I have a tutorial on the Tiger'sif you guys are interested. Really not a difficult process.Wrap two threads together up the blank. Burnish them different directions. Not looking for the standard uniform pattern. Several coats of Flex Coat. Then wrap two more threads dow the blank. Then remove one of the threads (Sacraficial). Two to three more coats of FC....and she's done/

| It would be great if Chris would make a rod building forum on here. There is a lot of people on here that are building rods now, and there is even more people that would like to try but there is no place to get information on how to start. It is nice just to see the pictures of the rods some of you guys make. We need a place to show off your talants. Charles
